Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has been awarded the “Top Employers” certification by the CRF Institute in China for a second consecutive year since 2010. This is an affirmation of SABIC’s position as an employer of choice for top talents in China.

“Top Employers” is an annual certification by the CRF Institute, an international research institute operating in 13 countries, which identifies top performing companies in the areas of HR, leadership, and strategy. SABIC was conferred the award after undergoing a thorough review by the CRF Institute of critical areas of HR management, such as benefits, working conditions, training and development, career opportunities and company culture.

“I want to thank our employees for helping us achieve this certification,” Li Lei, Vice President and Regional Head, Greater China, SABIC, said at the Top Employers award ceremony yesterday. “SABIC’s continued success is dependent on talented people who are highly motivated and passionate, and we will continue to benchmark ourselves against top employers, and strive for continuous improvement.”
 
SABIC places a strong emphasis on training and development. This includes increasing opportunities for staff to develop professional competencies as well as leadership skills through investments in structured learning and development programs.

SABIC employs more than 900 people in 14 locations across Greater China, with its regional headquarters based in Shanghai.  Their strong presence in Greater China includes two manufacturing plants in Shanghai and Guangzhou, and a cracker based integrated petrochemical complex in Tianjin under Sinopec-SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical (SSTPC) joint venture, one of the largest of its kind in China.

SABIC’s other new investments include a proposed joint venture with Sinopec to build a US$1 billion Polycarbonate production plant with an annual capacity of 260 kilo metric tonnes when fully operational in 2015; and a new 60,000 sqm Technology Center in Shanghai operational in 2013, which will also house SABIC’s Greater China regional headquarters.

SABIC is committed to become the preferred petrochemical supplier, partner, employer and corporate citizen in Greater China, one of its biggest and fastest growing markets globally.
