Executive Vice-President, Innovative Plastics

Charles “Charlie” Crew is Vice-President of SABIC Innovative Plastics, a position he assumed in May 2008. SABIC Innovative Plastics, a business unit of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), founded in September 2007 with the acquisition of GE Plastics, is headquartered in Pittsfield, Mass.

Prior to his current position, Crew was vice president and general manager of SABIC Innovative Plastics, Global Ventures. Previously, Crew served as vice president and general manager of the Cycolac* and Geloy* resins and petrochemical business of the former GE Plastics. Beginning in March 2002 Crew became the president and chief executive officer of LNP Engineering Plastics for GE Plastics. Prior to this, he led the European operations as president and senior managing director of GE Plastics Europe, Middle East, and Africa. He was promoted to this position in January 2002 from leader of European Commercial Operations, which he was appointed to in 2000. In 1994 Crew became an officer of General Electric and moved to vice president and general manager of Commercial Operations for GE Plastics Americas.

From 1977 to 1994, Crew held a variety of roles of increasing responsibility. From 1990 he was Western region sales general manager and prior to this, beginning in 1985, he was general manager for the Industry Development department. In 1984, he was promoted to manager of the Noryl* resin market development effort from his position as Eastern region manager for the GE Plastics sheet business. In 1979, he moved to lead the Valox* resin automotive marketing programs.

Crew earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Villanova University.
