Chairman

Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thenayan Al-Saud has been chairman of SABIC since April 14, 2003. He holds a Bsc in Civil Engineering from King Saud University.

Prince Saud is also the Chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, and the Power and Water Utility Company for Jubail and Yanbu (MARAFIQ). He is a member of the Royal Family Council, which has a number of princes as its members and is presided over by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and is also the Deputy Chairman of the Prince Salman Social Center.

Among the important positions he has previously held are: Director General, Survey and Drawings, Riyadh Municipality; Director General, Operation and Maintenance, Riyadh Municipality; and Deputy Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs for Planning and Programs.

Prince Saud has previously held board memberships of the Department of Water and Sanitation, Riyadh; Department of Water and Sanitation, Makkah; Department of Water and Sanitation, Eastern Province; Department of Water and Sanitation, Tabuk; Public Authority for Electricity; and Saline Water Conversion Company.

He is a member of several committees formed by royal decrees including, a committee to look into the needs of Al-Jouf, Jizan, Northern Boarder and Hail regions; a committee to look into the needs of the villages and areas of the western coast; a committee to look into the needs of Yanbu Governorates; a joint committee to coordinate and follow-up the works between the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Agriculture; and the Higher Committee for Childhood.

Prince Saud has played an effective role in several development programs of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs such as, Municipal and Rural Complexes Chiefs’ Performance Development Programs; Value Engineering Studies Program; and Privatization of Municipal Activities Program.

He has participated in a number of forums and scientific seminars in the Kingdom and abroad during which he presented several research and working papers in the fields of municipal works, economy, industry and investment affairs. He also takes a keen interest in social and cultural activities.
