Managing Board Member

After studying business economics at Rotterdam University (in the Netherlands), Koos van Haasteren started his professional career at KPMG in 1984, and joined DSM in 1987. After various business positions in the fertilizer and engineering plastics businesses, he became a Business Manager for their Polyethylenes Group in 1995.

In 1998 he became the Polyethylenes Group’s Director of Strategic Planning, Marketing and the Film Business. In 2001 he was appointed Director of the LD/LLDPE business unit and of the sales organization of DSM Petrochemicals (now SABIC Europe).

After completing the sales and business integration of SABIC in Europe, he was appointed Managing Director of its Polymers division, with effect from January 1, 2004.

He has also served on the board of Vereniging Milieubeheer Kunststofverpakkingen (VMK), the Dutch Association for the Environmental Management of Plastics Packaging.
