SABIC PARTNERS WITH BOAO FORUM FOR ASIA FOR 10 CONSECUTIVE YEARS

Beijing, China, January 25, 2018－SABIC, a global leader in diversified chemicals, will return to the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) as its Strategic Partner for the fifth consecutive year in 2018, underscoring its continuous support to this prestigious annual event as part of its long-term commitment to Asia. Li Lei, SABIC Vice President and Regional Head, North Asia, made this announcement today at a press conference hosted by Zhou Wenzhong, Secretary General of the Boao Forum for Asia, adding that it also marks the 10th consecutive year of close collaboration and partnership between SABIC and the BFA.

The Boao Forum for Asia 2018, taking place under the theme of “An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of Greater Prosperity”, will be held from April 8-11, in Hainan Province, China. Launched in 2001, the Boao Forum for Asia brings together global political leaders, business leaders, economists, and academics annually for important discussions with major implications for the future of Asia and the world. Yousef Abdullah Al-Benyan, SABIC Vice Chairman and CEO, is currently one of the 19 board members of the BFA.

A SABIC senior delegation, led by Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh Al-Jarbou, SABIC Chairman who was newly appointed in last quarter of 2017, and Yousef Abdullah Al-Benyan, SABIC Vice Chairman and CEO, will participant in BFA2018 this year and engage in dialogues with heads of states, government officials, business leaders as well as industry experts.

SABIC’s long-term strategic partnership and intensive engagement with BFA represents the company’s commitment to driving inclusive growth of Asia and China, by aligning its strategy and business activities with the region’s top priorities and major initiatives such as the “Belt and Road” Initiative. In recent years, SAIBC has always been collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure sustained growth, including working with Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group for a potential greenfield petrochemical complex in Ningxia since 2016, signing a strategic agreement with Sinopec to study opportunities for joint projects in Saudi Arabia and China in March 2017 under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as signing a Memorandum of Understanding on further cooperation with the Administration Committee of Guangzhou Nansha Development Zone in December 2017.
