In a joint venture, SABIC and Molecular Rebar Design®, have developed a proprietary nanotechnology set to transform electric vehicle batteries.

Collaborating under the name of Black Diamond Structures™, SABIC has driven the capability of modified carbon nanotube technology.

Nanotubes are a form of carbon with extraordinary electrical and mechanical properties. Until recently they have been difficult to commercialize in industrial applications.

Collaboration has changed everything. Carbon nanotube technology is helping to develop electric vehicle batteries with next level performance:
• Enable high capacity electrodes for improved energy density that can get more miles out of the battery
• Stronger electrodes that can improve manufacturing yield and consistency and can lengthen battery life
• Lower heat for better energy performance
