Eng. Awadh Al-Maker
SABIC Executive Vice President, Shared Services
Mr. Awadh Al-Maker is a Chemical Engineer from the College of Engineering, King Saud University, graduating in 1989.
In August 1989, he joined SABIC’s manufacturing affiliate in Jubail, Al-Jubail Petrochemical Company (Kemya), where he held various posts at different times, last of which was General Manager, Manufacturing.
In early 2003, he moved to Arabian Industrial Fibers Company (Ibn Rushd) in Yanbu as General Manager for a year, and was elevated to the post of President in 2004 with the specific goal of bringing in change for sustainable profitability.
In November 2009, he was appointed Manufacturing Vice President for Yanbu, leading the new organization and working with the area sites and the Sinopec SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical Company to establish a new manufacturing concept. In November 2012, he moved to the business as Polypropylene Business Vice President.
In September 2013, the SABIC Board appointed him to the position of Executive Vice President, Corporate Manufacturing and Manufacturing Affiliates.
In May 2015, Mr. Al-Maker was assigned as Executive Vice President, Technology & Innovation, and in October 2016, he was appointed Executive Vice President, Shared Services.
He currently also serves as Chairman of the Board of SABIC’s KSA-based affiliates – National Methanol Company (Ibn Sina) and Saudi Arabian Methacrylate Company (SAMAC), as well as the US-based JV, Scientific Design Company.
