SABIC was established in 1976 by a Royal Decree graciously signed by then the King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, may he rest in peace, marking a new chapter in the history of the Kingdom and the petrochemical industry.

Since then, SABIC has grown and expanded many folds, reaching its current position as a national champion and a global industry leader, becoming a model that industry peers proudly follow.

These 50 years have been pervaded by some challenges and numerous opportunities that have jointly shaped the company and its story. Some would argue that it is rather a fairytale that can be told, and we are proud of narrate it as we mark SABIC’s Golden Jubilee.

The story of SABIC revolves around key values that we still pursue to this day, which are integrity, commitment and leadership. It was also born with a sustainability mindset that still supports our decision-making, as SABIC’s fundamental objective was to turn resources that were once wasted into useful materials.
