Plastics are an important component to FCA’s cars. At their Global Materials Labs, researchers are continuously studying new formulas for plastics that will improve the safety, performance, aesthetics and passenger comfort of their cars while meeting the demands for a sustainable future.
The relationship with SABIC
SABIC has a long history working with FCA on the development of novel crash & energy management solutions for several vehicle front and rear bumper systems. Not only do these solutions meet low speed vehicle damageability requirements, but also those for pedestrian safety. Such systems include a pedestrian energy absorber, plastic bumper beams and crash cans.
