Within all these new strategies, there is a constant responsibility to grow food safely with the most stable fertilizers.
SABIC agri-nutrient scientists are working with farmers on innovative nitrogen fertilizers that maximize crop yields in a form that can be used more responsibly.
Lower ammonia volatility can allow farmers to use and store stable nutrients more safely. Lower rates of leaching reduce runoff from farm fields so water supplies are better protected.
How do you increase the efficiency of nutrient delivery for your agricultural and economic mainstay crop?
As part of a collaborative research project at King Saud University in Riyadh, SABIC set out investigating solutions to help feed the world’s growing population. It started the development of a smart agri-nutrient that directly addresses a key challenge for farmers in the difficult growing conditions of the Middle East region and further afield.
Growing a mainstay (such as date palms) year after year can cause fluctuations in harvest sizes as well as crop quality. Through a fertilizer tailored to date demands, SABIC helped farmers increase date yields by as much as 20% and produce a crop of more consistent quality and quantity.
With streamlined technology to help save farmers time, four essential nutrients are also combined in the required ratio in one application.
SABIC’s partnerships have helped create an increasingly stable formula for a more productive farming future.
