Helping electric and hybrid driving charge ahead

Our automotive collaborations are helping accelerate the performance of electric and hybrid vehicles. SABIC resins can reduce the weight of components from dashboards to tailgates by as much as 40%, so vehicles can go further.

Convincing drivers to make the shift to electric vehicles (EVs) depend on batteries that charge faster, run for longer, and are more efficient. In a joint venture, SABIC and Molecular Rebar Design® have developed proprietary nanotechnology set to transform EV batteries. Called Black Diamond Structures™, this collaboration develops carbon nanotube technology that can increase the energy density of EV batteries, improve their quality and service life and give them better energy performance.

New power from the sun and the water

In collaboration with renewable energy companies, we’re helping build solar fields on lakes. The panels float on supports made from SABIC materials, so they stay cool and generate energy more efficiently, without overheating or using the valuable land resources.
