SABIC Brand Flags in front of building

[Houston December 18, 2018] –  Houston-area SABIC employees have selected Houston Children’sCharities, C-STEM (Communications, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and Trees for Houston to receive $50,000 each – totaling $150,000 -- for their programs impacting community needs.

In celebration of November’s Giving Tuesday, SABIC employees were invited to vote for three local charities from a list of non-profits underpinning the company’s corporate social responsibility goals. “Our employees care deeply about the community where they work and live,” said Greg Adams, Vice President, SABIC Americas. “In the spirit of the holiday season, we are glad we can reach out to these worthy organizations to make an impact.”

“This is such a big surprise,” said Dr. Reagan Flowers, President and CEO of C-STEM. “We couldn’t believe it when we received a call informing us that we would receive the funds. It’s incredibly generous and will be put to good use.”

SABIC is working with each non-profit to determine how the funds will be applied.

“It makes me feel proud to be part of SABIC,” said Kim Wilson, Senior Manager, SABIC Americas Human Resources. “We got to pick where the funds would go. Now there could be children receiving new beds from Houston Children’s Charities, underserved students gaining communication and science skills from C-STEM and more trees planted throughout our city, thanks to Trees for Houston.”

With three sites in the Houston area, including the company’s Americas head office in west Houston and an office and technology center in Sugar Land, SABIC currently has more than 500 employees in the Houston area.

“We are pleased that we can contribute to the health and resilience of this community we call home,” said Adams.
