SABIC, a global leader in diversified chemicals, today commenced its participation at CHINAPLAS 2023. With China continuing to be the world’s top strategic market for petrochemicals, SABIC has been identifying global megatrends, addressing industry challenges, and leading the industry transformation to accelerate growth in China.

As part of its dual carbon vision to achieve peak carbon emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060, China has spent the past three years promoting a transition to more sustainable energy, including the electrification of core industries. As a key component of manufacturing, the petrochemicals industry is ideally positioned to drive sustainable growth through green and low-carbon transformation. At CHINAPLAS 2023, SABIC’s commitment to leading industry change towards a sustainable future will be on full display, enabling the public to learn more about how the company is meeting the industry’s biggest challenges through unique solutions.

Sami Al-Osaimi, Executive Vice President (A), Petrochemicals said: “SABIC is committed to leading the way in innovative materials solutions. China’s push for high-quality and sustainable development will require multiple industries to reach net-zero emissions, which itself will require more cross-industry and cross-sector collaboration throughout the entire value chain. In response to this, SABIC will continue to provide customers with tailor-made, innovative and sustainable solutions capable of meeting the industry’s toughest challenges.”

At CHINAPLAS 2023, SABIC will focus on advanced material solutions supporting the electrification of sectors such as transportation and power through their applications in electrical vehicles (EVs) and solar power systems. There also showcased a range of innovative sustainable products and solutions designed for applications in packaging, automotive, clean energy, building & construction, healthcare, electrical & electronics, and consumer goods.

PP and ETP materials for outdoor EV charger posts

China has the largest and one of the fastest growing EV markets in the world. To help meet increased demand for dedicated and reliable EV charging infrastructure, SABIC provides thermoplastic and fire-resistant (FR) materials that can help manufacturers create safe and durable EV charging equipment.

SABIC also launched BLUEHERO™, a new strategic initiative to build an ecosystem of materials, solutions and expertise that will drive development across the EV value chain.

FORTIFYTM POE for photovoltaic (PV) modules

Due to its high efficiency and cost-effectiveness, solar power remains one of the most dominant sustainable energy technologies. SABIC has a wide product portfolio designed to meet the needs of the solar power industry. Among these products, FORTIFY POE combines outstanding stability at elevated temperatures and ultraviolet (UV) exposure and is suitable for use in encapsulant films in bi-facial high-power glass-glass PV panels.

Plastic circularity – TRUCIRCLE™ portfolio

The circular economy plays a major role in the chemical industry’s drive towards sustainability. Under the TRUCIRCLE initiative, SABIC has collaborated with world-leading companies such as Microsoft and Mattel to launch products with certified renewable materials.

Since entering China in the 1980s, SABIC has expanded its footprint to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the market. In alignment with China’s dual carbon and high-quality development goals, SABIC will continue to lead change through innovation and collaboration and accelerate sustainable growth by seizing the opportunities in this high potential market.
