The International Chemistry Olympiad is the largest annual chemistry competition for students. The first Olympiad was held in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1968. Since then, the 10-day event has been held annually by a different country, with four students from each country. Thanks to the commitment of several advocates and the support of UNESCO, the number of participants increased to about 90 countries in 2024.
